A BILL to amend and reenact section four, article two, chapter
eighteen of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine
hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to allowing the
president of the state board of education to serve two
consecutive terms.
Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That section four, article two, chapter eighteen of the code
of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as
amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 2. STATE BOARD OF EDUCATION.
§18-2-4. Organization; appointment, compensation and duties of secretary.
At its first regular meeting in every year, the state board
shall elect one of its members as president who shall not succeed
himself as president may serve an unlimited number of terms but
no more than two consecutive terms and one as vice president of
the board. The state superintendent shall be the chief executive
officer of the state board and subject to its direction shall
execute its policies.
The state board shall appoint a secretary and fix his the
secretary's salary, to be paid out of the general school fund
upon warrants drawn by the state superintendent. The secretary
shall keep a record of the proceedings of the state board and
shall perform such other duties as it may prescribe.
